Vision Therapy Success Story July 2016
Written by the patient N.O.: Vision therapy has changed my life in many ways. First of all I have got all A’s this year and I made it in advanced math. Second it has made my reading a lot easier and now I’m ahead in reading. Last of all I want to thank Melissa for all her work.
Written by N.O.’s mom: Vision therapy was a key piece of the puzzle that has made all the difference for N.O. In about a year it has transformed him in so many ways. In addition to the skills learned in vision therapy N.O. also wears tinted glasses and uses a blue-violet overlay. In the summer before 4th grade it took him over 20 minutes to read one page in a chapter book, and his reading comprehension was extremely poor. He was unable to write
a summary of what he read. N.O. just finished 5th grade. He has been consistently in the top 10 students in his grade
for math and science. He was able to compete in the Stark County Math Tournament. I was told at the end of the school year that he will SKIP A GRADE IN MATH to 7th grade math! He also got voted BEST STUDENT OVERALL
in the 5th grade by his classmates!!! These victories are so much sweeter knowing where he came from and how hard he has worked. Previously he did not want to play sports. This spring he played soccer and loved it. He is playing again this fall. His math teacher told me he is a totally different student now. He is much more confident, has less anxiety and a better attitude about school.
We can’t say enough about Melissa, his vision therapist. She is so amazing and kind. She worked so well with N.O. and always could make him laugh. She is a great teacher and relates well to kids. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
