Dr. Drusilla H. Grant, FCOVD

Dr. Drusilla Grant, a lifelong resident of Northeastern Ohio, has been practicing optometry since 1981 when she received her Doctorate of Optometry from The Ohio State University. She is the latest in a family of professionals in the field. She joined her uncle, Dr. Roderick P. Grant, in private practice at the present location until he retired. Her great-grandfather, Dr. James D. Grant, an ophthalmologist, started the practice in 1896 to be followed by Dr. L. Harrison Grant, her grandfather. She maintains this four-generation family tradition of optometric excellence and personal service for her patients.

In addition to her Doctorate in Optometry, Dr. Grant has many other professional accomplishments. She is a past-president and Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Additionally, she is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, the College of Syntonics and the Optometric Extension Program. Besides her private practice, Dr. Grant has served as Rehabilitative Vision Consultant at Hillside Hospital and Edwin Shaw Hospital and as Clinical Instructor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry.

Dr. Grant is an experienced lecturer and addresses many areas of developmental optometry. She is available for speaking presentations and in-services and welcomes the opportunity to share how vision affects performance and how it can be enhanced. Recent topics include “The Vision Learning Link”, “Visual Rehabilitation of Stroke and Head Injury Patients” ‘ “Vision and Autism” and “Computer Vision Syndrome”. She has appeared on Cleveland’s Channel 5 Morning Exchange program on three separate occasions.

Dr. Grant is particularly qualified to treat visual dysfunctions which go beyond 20/20 sight and healthy eyes. She frequently works with people who have visual problems related to stroke, acquired brain injury, autism, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, and multiple sclerosis, to name a few. She enjoys working with persons of all ages, and is especially effective with children and special needs people. She receives and welcomes referrals from other professions such as occupational and physical therapists, physiatrists, teachers, reading specialists and psychologists.

She lives with her husband and golden retriever. In her spare time she enjoys running, kayaking, or reading.

Patti’s 15 years of working in the medical field gives her a wealth of knowledge when it comes to working with people. She is always happy to assist patients with any questions they might have from scheduling an appointment to answering account questions. She strives to not just meet your needs, but exceed your expectations. When not sharing her expertise, she enjoys playing with the 5 dogs she lives with or curling up with a good book.


Jan

Jan’s Master’s degree in Perceptual Motor Behavior and 31 years as a vision therapist provide a tremendous foundation for her vision therapy work at Grant Vision Care, Inc. Her background in sports enhances the athlete’s experience in vision therapy. When not in the office she can be found teaching part-time at Kent State University or enjoying the outdoors, especially with her dog!


Jane

Jane’s career, before retiring, as assistant principal and math teacher, gives her a rich understanding of the academic system and insight into the frustrations the child may be experiencing in school. As a vision therapist, now, more than ever, she understands how much vision problems can interfere with learning and sports! She enjoys volunteering at her church and is passionate about playing golf.


Melissa

With her energetic and warm personality, Melissa helps make each patients visit feel comfortable and well taken care of during their examination. Melissa’s love of children comes through as she works with them. In her spare time she enjoys using her music degree by instructing the handbell choir at church.
